Is a dry outer membrane okay?

My blue silkie hen named Caroline is sitting on 3 eggs and she has 1 chick. One of the 3 eggs started hatching and this morning the outer membrane looked normal, but now the outer membrane looks brown and dry. There is progress from this morning (more of the shell is gone ans the hole in the outer membrane is larger). Is there anything I need to do to moisten the membrane?

You could mist the egg with some warm water. But other than that try not to peek too much as every time you do the humidity under the hen is lost which causes the membrane to dry out.
