I have my rabbit shed built, getting ready to start building a chicken coop. The rabbit shed is 12 feet long. I plan on going with a 4x8 coop perpendicular to the corner of the shed. This will leave an 8 foot by 8 foot yard for the hens. My yard is fenced in, and there are plenty of dogs in the neighborhood. I haven't seen any raccoons, but we do have a few foxes and skunks running around. Also we don't have many hawks, plenty of crows and a falcon or two. Do I need to put a wire roof over the yard. I'm more concerned about chickens flying out than of predators getting in, but want them protected from both. Problem is my wife is a little concerned about the money I'm spending on the shed and coop. I know two eight foot long pieces of 4 foot wire wont add that much to the cost. Any advice?

Thanks dichotomymom, I started doodling in AutoCAD, and thin I have a design ready to go, of course I will be 2-3 weeks before I start building, so it will change several times between now and then.
