Hi all,
I am located in Boise, ID and this year has been a cold and snowy winter. Before it started to melt, we probably had a good 6 inches or so on the ground over the past few weeks. Now it has finally warmed up enough to melt away. It is mostly expected to stay fairly mild for the next couple weeks, but any of you who know this area know that even 6 inches is a lot and in my yard it's not draining so good. We just moved here so there wasn't any grass, just weeds in the backyard. I fortified the chicken run with a couple bags of traction sand of which I am going to get more I think. I put some old particle boards down to make a dry path out to the run. My ducks are quite happy do dabble in the yard puddles all day, but the chickens and I don't quite share their enthusiasm about it. Though they do enjoy drinking out of the puddles almost better than their clean water bowls. *SIGH* chickens will be chickens. Anyone else have a what-should-I-name-my-new-yard/lake rant? By the way, I'm thinking of naming it "Ducktopia" lake.....
