Is banty same as batams

We were wanting to buy some chicks from hatchery and wanting bantys. Is bantys the same as batams? Do we need to go ahead and order now are can we wait till spring? thanks

Banty is slang for bantams (not batams).

Banty and Bantams are the same thing. As for ordering....I would personally waite till spring. Just alot easier to keep them warm for shipping.

It wouldn't hurt to place your order now to ship in the spring (reserve). Some of the most popular breeds can run out. BTW I call my banties miniature chickens when I talk to non-chicken people.

If you want the rare or exoctic breed you NEED to order for the spring to get the chicks they will have. Many hatcheries keep these breeds for stock, but not nearly as many as they do for broilers/leghorms/RIR etc.
