So I sent my wife to town today to place an ad in the local paper to sell about 30 laying hens and about 10 extra roosters we had that we need to get rid of.

Because we have too many chickens.

Because I need the coop and run space.

Because we need LESS chickens.

She came home and handed me the reciept... and I hear chirping....

I started very calmly asking in a high pitched, very loud, very upset voice.. WHAT is that sound?

She also brought back 6 bantam cochin chicks!

She just looks at me so very innocent and said...

Haven't you heard of chicken math?

And she isn't even a member here on BYC. Thank goodness.

We can "help" with her math skills and support her addiction... I mean.... be a support group for her addiction.....I mean help her get over her addiction...yeah that's it!..... help her get over it!!!!

In my house chicken math is a learned application. I grew up with 3 Rhode Island Reds and we just stuck with the 3. My Mom either failed chicken math or she had an iron will. I think she had an Iron Will because she was a wiz at math!

If only my husband would catch it...no wait...that wouldn't be good cause there would be less room for the kinds that I want...hmmm. Okay never mind. We will just leave it as is. I pick the chickens and he helps build the pens....yeah, that works.
