This is either a really dumb question or the smartest ever! But I have some very lovely chocolate mint growing and was wanting to.grow some around the duck run, I know chocolate is bad, duh, but I'm almost pretty sure chocolate mint is called that because of the smell not because there is any chocolate in it right? Haha as I'm writing this I feel I already know.it's safe but just thought I'd check

That's...huh. Interesting. I know spearmint and peppermint are safe for birdies, but chocolate mint? I mean I guess it'll be okay, but to be honest I'm not too sure. Is it true that the leaves of the chocolate mint plant taste like girl scout cookies?

Yeah, I might just go out and get some other mint for the run, they do! Like really minty ones, it's my favorite

...Where has this plant been all my life

Seriously though, I think you're fine. Apparently both the peppermint and chocolate mint are hybrid plants! There's also a 'lavender mint' that looks tantalizing too, I hope it has to do with the taste and smell and not just the color! I've learned a lot about mint varieties today x_x;;
