I need to put some ground cover in my backyard and my chickens are able to roam through out freely. I was wanting to put down creeping thyme (thymus serpyllum) but wanted to make sure it wasn't toxic to my chickens. Also I live in zone 9. Any other suggestions are welcome :) Thanks!

I have but was unsuccessful finding a clear answer.

Hi, I want to put some of this in our backyard and wondered the same thing so googled it and found your thread. Did you plant this and if so were the chickens okay with it and did it grow okay with our horrible heat?

Thanks for sharing! I'll try planting them too.
Yes, chickens can safely eat creeping thyme, which is beneficial for their respiratory health and provides natural antibacterial properties. It is safe for them to eat the leaves, stems, and flowers, often acting as a healthy, aromatic snack or groundcover in their run.
