The waterer in my run leaked and the hens managed to dig a hole there. Thinking cypress mulch would fill that in and help with the nasty wet chicken feed smell

Thanks!! I'l put some down tomorrow, we actually got snow today so i stayed in mostly.Cypress mulch is just fine. The only one peeps seem to be concerned about is Cedar, Mulch. Many keepers do use the Western Cedar, and had no problems using it. (in outdoor run areas) Eastern Cedar is the aromatic one, like used for closet linings. That one is not very good for chickens' lungs. It is also available as Cedar Wood Shavings for pets in pet stores. Probably good for mice, and guinea pigs, but should definitely be avoided for chickens' nest boxes, and floor bedding.
What makes Cypress Mulch out-stand from other common mulches...... It is quite rot resistant for long time.
WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,![]()
