I know chicken is the best but a friend of mine got ducks and we were wonderig if it could be used as well with the pine shavings.

I put duck mature + shavings as a mulch over my established blueberries a week ago and so far so good! Duck manure is hot like chicken manure but I thought as long as it wasn't in contact with the roots and the manure:shavings ratio was low I would be okay. We'll see!

If you composted it for a while it would be an excellent soil ammendment. Shavings take longer to break down than straw in my experience.

The duck poo works great to heat up a compost pile. I added it to my heap all winter to keep things cookin'.
