Is he a cuckoo maran?

I have this 3 month old cuckoo maran cockerel and after looking at pictures I can't tell the difference between a cuckoo and a barred rock. Can you help me confirm if he is a cuckoo and what do you look at to tell the breeds apart?

Marans have white shanks and BRs have yellow shanks. That's the most obvious for me.

Agreed. Leg color seems to be the only real difference.
