Ok so Sid (my peachick) is going on 6 months now. A couple months back we had a scare when he was dumb and ate a wad of straw that plugged him up and made him quite sick. He has been freerangeing supervised the last couple weeks. My question is at 6 months is he old enough to be trusted outside alone. I mean can he eat straw and hay and what not without problems? Or do I need to worry about him? I'm looking at a kennel tonight 12ft long by 6 ft wide and 7 ft tall. I want to set it up for him outside but not if I have to worry about him eating things. He is being housed in a smaller kennel now and gets to be loose while I am home watching. Which doesn't take much because he doesn't leave my sight. If he can't see me he gets upset and runs back into the building. lol

Well my 5 peas are around 4 months old and even though they have the best feed, veggies and grain they eat their poo and anything else they can swallow, so i guess ya have to wait and see or keep him penned up cause i think it's the nature of the birds.

I figured that...but he should be old enough to be able to digest more of the stupid things he eats right? lol

Yea he will be fine just keep string and plastic stuff picked up and if he's penned i would make sure he has grit for digestion, i just put mine in a ground pen a few weeks ago, i feel much better now, just waiting for the rite time to let them loose for good here.

Do you have a photo of you boy to share?

Heres mine on when i first put them in the big pen.

I don't have any recent ones. I will be sure and get some tomorow to share with you. I really want to get him some playmates or mates in general. Its really hard to find anything locally.
