Is his comb frostbitten? (Pictures attached)

We are in our first winter with our 1 year old Rhode Island rooster. Our chickens stayed in the coop during our 0-degree / -20 wind chill temps in Ohio this past weekend. We have a thick 6" bed of pine shavings in the bottom of the coop and an electric-heated water bucket in the corner.

The 2nd is this morning - Thursday the 29th

Advice is appreciated! Will this heal? How can we help him?

Yea that is frostbite. It will eventually fall off since it’s dead tissue. How is the ventilation on your coop?

It's not well ventilated from what I am learning. We have a vent at each of the 2 peaks at this time.

Yes. He'll likely loose the tines, but the majority of the comb body should be okay if it doesn't have anymore happen

Also, just talked to my husband and he said our rooster roost under one of the vents at night. We are pretty confident that is what caused it.

Can you post some pictures of your set up? I too started with very poor ventilation but learned quickly.
