Is it a Hen?

I have a 6 week old Barred Rock, a 5 week old Light Brahma banty, and 5 week old Black Silkie. I had thought that the Rock was going to be a roo, it being aggressive and protective of the other two. But last night I went to check in on them after dark, and that Rock had a banty under each wing! They both stuck their heads through to look at me, it was adorable. Is this a motherly thing, or just a good buddy for warmth?

Naw,the wing thing isnt a sign or nothing..My 3 month olds bunch up really close,and occasionaly one of the pullets wings end up over the top of another ..Ive seen one roost on top of another....I cant help but crack up at them..i call em goofy suckers...lol

They are so darn cute when they huddle up! I'm in South Central OK. Where are you? What kinds of chickens do you have?

I live about 50 miles SE of OKC.

I have 13 full grown chickens.

4 Brown Leghorns
1 White Leghorn
1 Black Sex Link
1 Black Australorp
3 Rir
1 Rir/buff orp
1 Silver penciled Wyndotte (i think thats the type lol)
and 1 Light Brahma roo

3 month olds (I started with 21 now i only have NINE,I HATE PREDATORS)

1 TOUGH RIR cockeral
1 buff orpington
3 white leghorns
4 RIR (deep mahogany color)


I plan on getting more!! I live way out in the country.and have alot of land for them to roam LOL, I soon hope on getting 50 or more! I love my chickens...
