Is it better to integrate one chicken to a flock or two?

Hello, I have two Silkie chickens one is a roo and one is a pullet I have to get rid of the roo but I still need to integrate the pullet into the flock. Before we get rid of the rooster should we have them both go into the flock so the pullet has a buddy or do you think it would be ok if we only integrate one chicken (the pullet)? We also don't want our roo crowing early in the morning waking up our neighbors. Thank you!

Integrating silkies into an established flock can be problematic. I would try integrating both so that perhaps the cockerel could provide some protection to the pullet.
