Is it Maran or Marans??????

And believe it or not, one species is not a specie. One of my pet peeves!

Actually, though, I suppose a Marans should be called something like a Maransienne or Maransian -- like people from Paris are called Parisienne or Parisian. Just another complication to throw in the ring!

LMAO Like we need MORE complications!!!! Hahaha

FUNNY!!! but unfortunately that wont work because of welsummers, barnevelders, and penedescencas, all very dark egg layers!

its a good topic though

remember too, that just because someone has the right name and spells it well doesn't mean they are a premium breeder! use your common sense!

Here is a quote from Bev's Marans:

Marans (always with the "s" at the end) poultry are a rare French breed originating in Marans, France.
For this reason, it is incorrect to refer to a single bird as a "Maran" but rather a single bird is referred to as a "Marans."
