is it nessesary to put feed and water in the coop?

I dont want the added mess of feed and water inside the coop unless it's a must. But i worry about the food condition in the winter....feed being extra cold, and I'm already thinking about how to heat the water
 
My coop is no warmer than my run, really. I've had feed and water both in the coop and out in the run, or just outside when they free ranged. The feed temp doesn't matter at all, and I just have to thaw the water no matter where it is.
 
I keep the food inside, out of the weather and away from visitors. I keep the water outside, so any spillage soaks into the ground. I put a bird bath heater in the supply bucket in the winter to prevent freezing.

Depends entirely on the environment you live in. I don't have anything inside, but a good autofeeder and raised water stations, but it only snows 1 or two days a year here.
