So I was out letting the chickens wonder and was checking some of my worm makers (just some wood over dirt lol) to get some treats for my flock when I flipped over a stack and found a nest of mice. From out of absolutely no where one of my roosters came and snatched one of the babies up and took off like a rocket!

is it normal? Is it ok they eat them? Will they do it on their own now?

personally I think it’s GREAT! Buuut what’s the rule?

Mine eat mice and moles all the time. Sometimes they don't eat them and leave them for me to clean up in the run. Be happy they are keeping the population in check! Lol I get a kick out of the girls chasing each other over a mole/mouse. Im amazed they can swallow them down like that. I think its even cooler they shake them like a dog to kill them first. Chickens are amazing creatures 😍

An Orpington rooster of mine I used to have would actively seek out mice, frogs, toads, and lizards to eat. Here he’s caught a small rat.
