Two of my girls started to lay about two weeks ago. The EE gives me an egg every day. The other, not sure who, gave me one brown egg every other day. Then she stopped. I had a suspicion the brown egg layer was eating the eggs because I haven't seen any eggs for about a week now. Thought I might have saw some evidence of some yolk the other day, but can't be for sure. So I took some measures just in case someone was eating the brown eggs. Golf balls, mustared egg(which was untouched),collected the other eggs promptly, made sure nest boxes were dark, giving them plenty of protien. So now I'm starting to wonder this.... Do new layers lay a couple of eggs and then possibly stop? Are their egg cycles irregular because they are new at laying? Because if I don't collect the EE's egg, it will lay untouched and not be eaten. So I'm trying to solve the mystery; did the brown layer stop or are the brown eggs still being eaten and I'm not seeing it. Such as, no signs of yolk or shells on faces or in the coop.
