Is it OK to Feed sourdough starter?

I wouldn’t. It’s just a super heavy concentration of probiotics, slightly alcoholic, and may upset their stomach. Also the flour is raw which can be hard on the tummy. I don’t think it would kill them though I just personally wouldn’t feed it to my chickens.

Sourdough starter is good stuff for your chickens. If you're familiar with Fermented Feed, it's basically the same thing. Sourdough is flour that is partially digested already, lots of yeasts and probiotic bacteria.

Another use for extra sourdough starter is to make sourdough pancakes. They won't be sweet, like breakfast pancakes, but will be savory...good with a little butter!

I have fed before to my chickens and they were very happy! No stomach problems or upset tummies. Just my experience though.

That is true I didn’t think of fermented chicken feed but at the same time the feed is fermented for a shorter period of time. How much starter have you fed to your chickens in one session?

On another note, I’ve never had enough sourdough starter to discard. I try to plan my feedings according to how much I need for a recipe so as not to have to discard any.

Same here! I will only use enough for a recipe for 8 as I have only 8 chickens right now.
