Is it possible for 1 hen to monopolize the nesting box?

I have a RIR, PRock and Aust. They are 6mo. old and have all molted. My red is sooooooooo loud that my neighbors are convinced she is a rooster. Luckily, she is laying, but sadly the only one laying! I've read how a rooster-less flock can produce an alpha hen and believe this to be my situation. However, I wonder if she is not allowing the other girls to lay. I free range them often and have not located another laying site. Can one hen bully the others away from the nesting box?

Do you only have one nesting box? Does the 'alpha' hen sleep in the nest box?

I recently built a second box but none of them have layed in there. Neither she (alpha) or the others sleep in the nesting box. They all follow her around. She is always the first to try things and definitely the most intelligent. The other girls fight amongst themselves but I have never seen anyone challenge her. She is also the only one who approaches me. As far as size, the australorp is much bigger than her.
