A coop is a safe, secure shelter that can be closed at night to keep nighttime predators away from your flock. A run is the safe, outdoors space that your flock will spend their days in. Keeping a flock outdoors, without shelter, in a wire pen is not a very safe setup. If there is no shade, they may die from over heating. If there is no shelter from wind and rain, they may also die from exposure. Lots of things like to eat chickens, and they are pretty helpless in the dark.
Lighting does help a flock lay through the winter, but, depending on where in the world you live, this might never be an issue. Young flocks do not generally need supplemental lighting to keep up production.

But does light work in this coop or no ? Without shelter
