Is it rude to ask?

If you are getting yur chicks from a feedstore is it rude to ask what hatchery they are coming from?

Not at all, if they won't say that's when I start wondering why not.

Nope. I call and ask the local feedstores every year which hatchery they order from. I want to know where the chicks come from that I plan on buying.

I have a good relationship with my feedstore. And they keep a book as to where each batch of chicks is from, only thing is... depending on age there are three "chick" areas, the older they get, it would be real hard to determine which chicks are from which hatcheries. Unless they only buy certain breeds from different hatcheries.

No, I dont think that is rude at all. One feed store in my area has been ordering from the same hatchery for twenty years. I must say every layer I have gotten from them has done well for me. They are very proud to tell you about their trust in the hatchery.

I called and found out my chicks are coming from Privett Hatchery which is in New Mexico.
