Is it TIME? Can I put them outdoors overnight?

Three of my four chickens were hatched on St. Patty's Day. That makes them 2 month old. The other chicken is 1 month old. They are fully feathered. I have them in a run during the day, and am almost finished with their coop. Night time temperatures are mid 50s. When the finishing touches are on the coop can they stay out overnight?

Absolutely,

Chickens are very comfortable in a wide range of temperatures and should have no problems in the environment you have stated (with the exception of predators). When I first transition my chickens outdoors I like to provide a small 10 watt light bulb, simply for light, as I have always had chickens who got loud when the lights went out...LOL...

I would suggest, however, that you monitor your chickens closely over the next couple of days just to make sure they are completely safe. I would also watch the weather close as temps can suddenly drop at night. This year seems to be an extreme when it comes to weather here in Michigan...

Best of luck...

Mine are almost a week younger than yours and they've been outside (run and unheated coop) since about 5 1/2 weeks. Couldn't wait to get the stink out of the basement! We've had some 30-40 degree nights, but they huddle together and make do. I haven't lost a single one, but maybe I've just been lucky??? They were basically fully feathered when they went out, just some lingering down on the head. They seem hale and hearty and happy, foraging actively and being chickens.

Okie Dokie. As soon as my version of "Cage Mahal" is finished, I will move them out. Hoping to be done by mid-afternoon Memorial Day.

I would have put them out sooner, but hubby is passing a kidney stone. This has slowed us down, but he has still been helping when he feels up to it. I think he is the best.
