My hen Tina started to be a little off since Tuesday May 23rd morning. The symptoms are lethargic and yucky poop stuck to her bottom. She definitely has diarrhea, but she is still eating a little bit.

Wednesday she was no better or worse.

This morning her poop looked like this (click on the picture to see unblurred version):

It looks like diarrhea with lash bits??

I am wondering if I should treat her with one round of antibiotics. Poor girl seems to have eyp.

I tried to feel if there is any egg, but I don't think so.

Thank you for your answers.

How old is she? Has she been laying eggs recently or taken a break? Can you get a picture of her, and one in focus of her droppings? How does her crop feel—empty, full, puffy and soft, or firm? Does it empty by the next early morning? Has she lost weight, and does she have any swelling or fluid in her lower belly under her vent? It is up to you whether or not to use antibiotics. They are now very hard to get without a vet. Amoxicillin or AquaMox/Fish Mox may be available.

@Eggcessive thank you.

She is 2 years plus 2 month old. She is RIR.

I don't have a good picture of her droppings except the one I already posted. Many are white clear liquid or greenish white diarrhea.

Her crop is fairly empty. But it was kinda empty too going to roost.

How can you tell if there is fluid or swelling at lower belly? I gave her a bath this morning to at least wash off her messy bottom. I tried to feel it but it just feels firm. Her weight seems the stable at this moment.

I watch my birds closely but for at least one month I haven't been able to catch her laying. Like if I see her in the nesting box, and I go check her egg after she left, there would be no egg there. But she could still be laying without me knowing since I do have to work. My guess is that she is likely internally laying.

I have aquamox.

You can give 125-250 mg twice a day for 7-10 days. Offer some scrambled egg and moistened chicken feed to try and get her drinking. It doesn’t sound like she has water belly if she is not swollen under her belly.
