I have some eggs that have been under my broody for 24 days. Is it to late to incubate. Can I put them in and put them on lock down. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

24 days you are not doing so well. There are not enough nutrients in the egg to last much longer than 25 days.

I have had eggs under broody hens that didnt hatch untill day 25-26 and some a little early.I would leave them alone for a couple more days or put them in your bator and candle them or float test them the eggs still might be good. but thats what I would do.

These are chicken eggs that have been under a broody. Is it to late to do a lock down?

No if they are bad what could it hurt, if they are good you will get chicks.

Thank you!!!!!!!! I am gonna have to buy an incubator. Do they come with instruction on how to do a lockdown? Can you tell me how to do a lock down? I want to give them a chance because, I did a float test yesterday and if that is right 8 out of 9 were good.

If they are going to hatch, your hen will do better than moving them to an incubator- there's nothing special about putting them in lockdown that will make them hatch. It's merely a matter of whether or not they are viable.

Have you candled to see whether they are good?

Do you have a clear idea of when she got the eggs, or whether they were fertile?

Edited to add: I did see that you did a float test- did you see clear indications of movement in the test, or were you looking for other indications?

This is the 24 day of being under my broody. These are eggs I ordered. They are suppose to be fertile but, I don't know. So what does lock down mean? Do you do something special. I have never done it before. I haven't candled but, I did do a float test yesterday.

if you leave them under the hen they will have a better chance of hatching if you put them in your bator dont turn them and make sure the humidity is at least 60%.
