is it true or not true... about flying mallards????

Flying Mallards can and will fly away
Flying south for the winter Lol who knows
I have ducks everywhere and have had a few fly away but always came back most have no interest in getting far from the feed bowl

The only way to garantee they wont leave is to pen them /clip their wings/ or pinion them
Out of hundreds I breed every year I have only had 4 go awol in the last 10 years
Critters will get some but in general they stay where they are happy
I have 2 ponds they fly back and forth on all the time

I had two mallards, and i fed them really well, and they loved me very much. But last fall they flew off one day and never came back. I think they may have been chased away by a dog or something, but I was hoping they would come back this past spring but they didn;t. i think it depends on the individual bid. i used to love to watch them fly. They are beautiful.
