Is it true that only the hens quack? If so....

It seems like I've heard that the drakes never learn to quack. Only the hens.

If this is true, it is possible to own a flock of drakes only? This is my first year with Mallards. They've been so much fun, but they have become VERY noisy!

Next year I would like to try ordering drakes only so that we don't have the noise. Is there any reason I can't do this?

Hens do have a distinct QUACK.

The quack on a drake is raspy almost like he has a sore throat.

Hope this helps

Well, it is possible. Without a girl to fight over, they can get along...BUT...sometimes hormones do take over. You may have the dominant drake mounting the others.

If you need quiet ducks, have you considered muscovies? They make hissing noises and aren't loud like my mouthy buff mix and the welsh harlequin girls
