From what I hear the 1588 is absolutely the best, second only to cabinet incubators and it's supposed to be reasonably idiot-proof. If you're going to second-guess yourself constantly adjusting a wafer thermostat and if these eggs are really important to you - then you should get it for peace of mind.
If money's an issue, I'd probably go with the 1602 - it's hard to justify the expense of a 1588 unless you were planning to hatch eggs for other people or sell it when you're done. From what I've read, Hovabators are much much better than LGs, so at least you're getting a Hovabator!
The 1588's preset digital thermostat would be soooo nice, but you could handle the wafer thermostat. The used bator I just bought has one and it took me a few days to get it exactly right, but it's been holding very steady ever since. It's much better than my homemade bator with the light bulb and water heater thermostat. That one would flucuate quite a bit when the light bulb went on and off, but I still managed to hatch a few quail in it and the Silkie eggs are all still developing well. They're still in there.
Now I'm really late for a dinner party and I haven't done my hair, so I must be off, but I can't wait to see what you decided!
