I just got three day old ducks and had been feeding them chick starter I am not sure medicated or not so I pulled it and put in my older runners food. The back of the package says 0 months plus but I want to be sure. I am pretty sure the chick starter is unmedicated there is nothing on the package that says medicated only vitamin fortified but I just want to play it safe until the company e-mails me back.

Feed usually comes with tag on the bottom of the bag which lists the percentage of protein, etc. You should post that information, also if it says it is medicated what medication is listed?

Waterfowl need more niacin than other poultry, so give them nutritional yeast or brewers yeast with their food, or grind up some niacin vitamins and add that. Or you could add the vitamins you find at the pet store. I think the product is called Vitasol?

okay found the tags at the bottom of the bag. The chick feed is medicated. I pulled it last night so they ate it for roughfly 11 hours. They are on the meat bird grower/finisher now.

I hope they are okay having eaten the chick starter, they seem fine, they are very active running tall.

If it is medicated don't use it or stop if you have been using it.

In a pinch, I used broiler feed, but had to add other ingredients . . . my mind blanks on it now . . . oats, wheat bran, and cat kibbles? I can't remember . . . there were specific proportions I followed and got the recipe from a book.
