I’ve got 6 week old chicks. I had them on medicated originally but switched them nutrena chick starter unmedicated. I sent my husband out to get more and he said he could only find the medicated? And of course it’s a 50lb bag. Is that a problem? Side note we have more chicks hatching at the end of the month.

Should I just save that for them and try to locate more organic nutrena flock shield for my 6 week olds?

Medicated feed will not hurt them, even if they have been vaccinated. If you give them medicated feed within the first two or three weeks after they are vaccinated medicated feed can negate the effects of the Coccidiosis vaccine. The vaccine needs two to three weeks to become effective.

Thanks! They didn’t get the vaccine.
