Hello everyone. Learning so much here. It is almost 3 weeks since i received my 8 day old chicks. They are growing quite fast in a large 4 by 2 1/2 ft dog wire dog crate. In fact i am concerned that they will soon out grow it. I have them at about 80 to 85 degrees in the warmest spot to about 60 or less (colder at night) in the coolest corner. They are spread out, mostly quiet. This is all in an unheated garage.
However they sometimes are running and jumping like crazy at any random moment and 2 of them seem to race at one another and do a chest bump.
My day time temps will be about 80 high and night time lower 50s. Do you think it would be harmful if I move them to an entirely closed coop, 6 ft by 4 ft by 8 ft tall at 4 weeks. I would only open to run with supervision during warmer part if the day. I have read that they need to be fully feathered, which they will not be.
So the 2 questions, is crrent brooder too small to last past 4 weeks. And can i move them to the described coop at 4 weeks
