hello! i'd like to preface this with saying i'm new to this forum, so forgive me if this isn't in the right place. 😅 i'm new to owning chickens, and i noticed something unusual in one of my chicks. i purchased a silver-laced wyandotte chick to add to my little flock (after one of my others unfortunately passing 💔) on july 26th, and tractor supply had just gotten a new batch in. the chick in question couldn't have been more than a week old. should it have grown more by now? i'm a little worried something might be wrong with it. 🙁

here it is next to a can of diet coke for size comparison.

As long as the chick is active, eating and drinking I am sure it is fine. Some breeds grow slower than others and honestly it is impossible to say how big it is in that pic.

It looks just fine. Of my last batch, there was a huge size difference in my chicks. Now that they are a few months old, it's much harder to notice a size difference. How old and what breed are your other chicks?

i have two white-crested black polish chicks and an isa brown chick, all around a month old. 🙂

At 7 weeks my 2 Silver-Laced Wyandottes are significantly smaller than the others their age -- a California White and 2 Blue Australorps. They're half the size of the 2 Light Brahmas.

I've never had Wyandottes before and don't know if they're normally slow growing or not.

The farm store I got them from seems to have gotten that delivery from Hoover Hatchery.
