I noticed my rescue duck likes to tuck in his head and puff his chest out. I’m not sure if this is a mating call or just a duck thing. Sometimes he likes to nudge the chickens but he doesn’t do anything further than that, at least for now. I do keep them separated when I can’t watch them, but just was wondering if I’m right to be cautious or am overreacting. These were the best pictures I could get, he does it so quick and stops! I’m sure this is a very noob question and might give some duck people laughs but I have accepted that haha. Other than that he’s doing very well! He’s eating so much better and has been accepted in the flock! He loves to forage in the yard and I plan to get a pool as soon as I see them for sale.

That is just a duck thing might just want water to play in! Also if he is not attacking or really doing anything harmful to your chickens then I think they would be ok to be together.

I’d def keep the separated when you can’t watch them. My Runners drake does some weird things like tuck his head bend down and run fast making a whistling noise he also does it after mating. I hope your trying to find your rescue boy some females he needs at least 3 to keep his mind off your hens. And would make him so happy too.
