Is my firepit to close to the chickens?

I'm unaware of how chickens can do around smoke, and wanted to check.

I'd imagine about the same as humans. As for it being too close, I can't say for sure. It just depends on what kind of wind you get and such.

Unless you burn smokey and the wind takes it right to them, it'll be fine.

OTOH, I like to put one of them just above the coals until the juices run clear.

Where does the wind normally come from? If it blows away from the coop you're fine.

Ours is a good 90' feet from the coop with the wind coming from the coop towards the pit. I still don't understand no matter where I sit the wind blows the smoke at me!

Ah, so you were just wondering if the coop was close enough to the fire so that the smoke would be attracted to the chickens. They are a good substitute.
