I am a first time chicken owner and I'm a little nervous my hen might be eggbound. This will be her first time laying. She has been singing for a couple days now . She started pushing yesterday, she won't really sit down and her tail feathers are sticking straight up. You can see her pushing and the eggs right there, when she pushes you can see the egg but it looks like it's coming out sideways. She's had a pasty butt so we started them on oyster shells about a week ago but she was still pasty today so I gave her a bath and cleaned her up good. It seemed like her vent was pasted shut. She seemed calmer after the bath but still struggling. I left her alone and came back 2 hours later to see if she laid yet and nothing but her her butts covered in a white pasty stuff again and when I watched her push this white stuff oozes out a little and it's a little foamy. Is this normal for first time layer or is she eggbound? I have pictures of her butt but can't figure out how to post them, I even have video of the awful noise she's making!
