Hi everyone!

My 8 guineas were born May 20th. They are still shedding their baby feathers on their heads but are very healthy and spoiled ROTTEN.
Last night my husband and I removed a thorny bush because the guineas have been spending a lot of time in there and I didn't want them to get use to it.
One of my females was not happy about this and kept going back to that area and laying in a little shaded part. My flock is always together and if I go out to their yard they are always on my heels. This one was still sitting while the others were sticking to where I was. She looked like she was making a nest.
Aren't they way too young??
I watched her and she finally got up and joined the flock and was acting normal. This morning I opened their coop and everyone is fine.

I'm worried about her being too young of she is nesting or if I have an egg bound guinea. It's definitely not easy to get them to let me check them out. They only love me on their terms 😂

I added a picture of what she was doing yesterday.

Are you sure she hasn't just found a favorite dust bath? They'l kick up the dirt making a shallow crevice, and oncevthey find one they like, tend to return to it.

I don't think so. They've got a couple of areas they use where the dirt is drier. They also make a huge production out if it. They fluff and flop around in the dirt.
She was sitting really still and quiet.
I appreciate your suggestion!

Maybe she is just practicing? Seems very young to actually lay eggs, though I guess anything is possible!

A few of my females (Late May hatch last year) started laying in early September. So maybe she is getting close to laying and is scouting out a future nesting area.

Or she just likes it as a comfortable and safe feeling resting place. 🤷🏻‍♀️

My guineas definitely have their favorite hangout spots in the yard/garden.

How many eggs do you think you got for each guinea? September is coming soon so I guess there's nothing to do but wait and see!

In the beginning a few eggs a week. Not all females started laying at once. So spring is when I was getting 7 eggs a day. One from each female. Now I get 5-6 a day most of the time, if I can find them. Lol
The past few days I haven’t found their nest, plus it appears raccoons have been finding them now:/
When they first start laying the eggs will just be in random places. They didn’t start using a “nest” till spring.
