Is my hatch lost? Temp spike UPDATE

I just checked the bator and the eggs are rolling all over the place! I'm so excited you'd think I'd never hatched anything before! Yay! Thanks for everbody's advice! Now If I can just stay sane through the Pendesenca hatch and the other showgirls and silkies. Yay!

Hi everyone! I'm not new, but its been so long since i've logged on that my username didn't work.... I guess they expire if not used?

Anyway, I need some advice from someone that's hatched more than I have. I'm on day 19 with 12 on the way. I had a temp spike. It was 103.4 when I checked it this afternoon.

I cooled down the incubator immediately but I don't know if the eggs can survive a spike that high. Last I checked was about 8:00pm last night it was at 99.4, this afternoon around 4:00 it was 103.4. I did candle a couple of eggs and I didn't see much in the way of movement. Any body ever had this happen and still end up with chicks? The eggs are showgirls and silkies.......

If the air temp was 103.4, there is a chance that the temp in the eggs were a bit lower, as they climb slower than the air temp, ecspecially if it a still air.

what do you have to lose go for it. You probably wouldnt see too much mobvement on day 19 anyway as it is getting pretty tight in there.

That doesn't sound all that bad. And movement in an egg at this late date is pretty difficult as cramped as they are, so don't worry about that. Don't lose hope on this one.

Thanks, you calmed me down a bit, but I'm devastated. I've been waiting for these eggs forever! First to afford them and then its been forever since I set them.

I did forget to mention that the temp I gave you was the temp of my water weasel so it was internal temp. which makes it worse for me.....

Your're right I don't have anything to lose at this point now. I'm expecting a hatch each Tues for the next month. I sure hope this doesn't set the precedence for the remaining hatches....
