Is my hen heavy?

My chicken Yellowfeet weighs 8.9 pounds is she overweight? She is a 5 year old Buff orpington. Im worried feeding her too many treats will make her sick.

Weight doesn't matter, Orpingtons are a heavier breed. You should feel for her keel bone in the center of her chest. You should be able to feel it without it being prominent. If she is fat her chest will be meaty. At 5 years old an Orpington is well filled out. Keep her treats to around 10% of her diet.

She's at the top end of the range, but that's to be expected as they age. As long as she's getting around okay and otherwise healthy, she's good.

I'm thinking she's earned treats at this point.
