Is my mallard getting ready to Lay

I have a mallard duck which is about 7 months old and the last few days I have found her in my chickens nesting boxes, she tends to stay in there for a hour then just come out, is this a sign that she is going to start laying or is it too early.

Ive been seeing my mallard who is 8 months sit in a place for about 3 minutes, get up and move, sit and continue. She has no drake yet

she was pure wild i tamed her so maybe she will fly away get mated and then come back and lay. When in PA do mallard lay?
