Poof, the hen, has been broody for a little while now, and Lacey Boy, the rooster, stands by her side most of the day. He's still crowing in the mornings, but his appetite seems down. She's the only hen. Is he lonely? Wow, a chicken love story!

Please get him some more hens, his hormones will drive him crazy.

Yup, the recommended ratio is one roo for ten or twelve hens.

I did buy two chicks a little while back, but they're only 4 1/2 weeks old, way too young for him. *chuckle*
I wonder if I could borrow a hen from the neighbor, but her hens are standards, not bantams, they'd probably kick his butt if he tried to mate one of them.
