I have a 7 month old Silkie hen and I want her to hatch her own but she's not broody someone told me to just leave eggs in nest and when there's a certain amount I'm the best she'll go broody and lay on them is this true? Also is she old enough to go broody or too young?

that is my Silkie pair

She's old enough to go broody. Leaving eggs in a nest can often make a hen go broody. However, you can't force a hen to go broody-- she'll only go broody when her natural instincts tell her to.

Oh ok thanks ya I'm new to this but another question its about 40 temp wise here in Virginia lower then that at night but if I leave eggs in nest for her is that too cold for eggs to survive with out her laying on them or until she is ready?

I think that the eggs will be fine, as long as they don't freeze. If she sits on them, they'll definitely be fine.
