Myrtle is a 2 week old Polish who almost died after shipping and then got an infected eye from a pecking wound. I kept her inside with a buddy, but the other chick died. Myrtle has now been by herself for over a week.
I got her some new buddies today - same age (feed store showed me the packing slip). These two adorable EEs absolutely DWARF tiny Myrtle. I'm thinking that Myrtle's growth is stunted because of her ordeal. I'm also thinking she may be too "special" to put outside.
I am not one to advocate keeping chickens inside, but Myrtle is now 100% normal except for her eye, which has scar tissue: she's eating, drinking, running around, pooping.
