so i have three hens. henri was the alpha female and she was found deceased on my roof this morning. i'm pretty broken up about it. she had been missing for a couple days, but i knew something horrible had happened because there were feathers ALL over the yard - front, back and side!

my other two hens, migas & nina, are quite the pair and usually do everything together. but ever since henris death they have gone their separate ways. while migas seems to be doing fine, nina doesn't seem to be.
it could be the weeks of hundred degree weather we've been getting in austin, but since henri died she won't let me get anywhere near her, she is distant and doesnt run up to me anymore. she hasnt eaten and her crop feels empty, and shes got poo on her bottom too!

is she traumatized from the attack on her friend? she just stands around all day and her comb has gone limp. ive even given her and migas their favorite snacks and treats. she will timidly creep up and check at the food like shes scared of me and then walk away.

any suggestions?

i dont want to lose another lady. i love them so much!

its definatly possible ! i had 2 bantys that were best friends and when one died the other sulked for a while until it befriended a new chicken and they brooded a nest together.

A few years ago I had one hen get killed. The other two were acting timid and scared for a few days, didn't seem to be completely back to normal for a couple weeks. Hope yours are OK soon.
