Is Salpingitis communicable? Can it be treated with Amoxycillin?

I posted last week that we euthanized Punkin (for a couple of reasons), I posted photos of her necropsy, she was suffering from severe Salpingitis. My senior chicken, Mary, is also sick, (and actually has had diarrhea for over 1 month). I'm going to bring her indoors now to get out of the cold, and because she is starving. What should I do? Going to a Vet is not an option. I've already had a fecal done for Mary which found no coccidia or worms. I have Amoxycillin on hand for pigeons - 10% Amoxycillin. It says 1 t/gal - does that sound right? I just hesitated to give antibiotics to a bird with severe diarrhea. I can give her more yogurt for the diarrhea...

Is Mary related to Punkin?

With Salpinitis, there is more likely to be a genetic component rather than infectious vector.

Is your medication Baytril (Enrofloxacin) 10%? Or is it amoxicillin? Either medicine is best given to each chicken orally twice a day. If you have Baytril, give 0.05 ml per pound—that is 0.25 ml for a 5 pound chicken twice a day for 5 days.

If you have amoxicillin dosage is 57 mg per pound twice a day for 5-7 days.

I have powdered 10% amoxycillin but I'm not clear how to mix it. So, since it's 10% would that mean 5.7 mg/lb. (0.0057 g/lb.). So she is 3 lb. so that would be 0.017 g. Correct?

I really cannot figure dosage of 10% amoxicilln. If you are using something like this, below, I would use it in the water according to the label. Maybe @casportpony can figure a better direct dosage, but I just don’t want to give you wrong advice.

Yes, it's the same. Actually I mixed it and entubated her with 1 cc water with the meds mixed in, then gave her a yogurt snack with the feed mixed in and she started eating right away. It's below 20 degrees outdoors, so at least this way she has a cozy heating lamp and a cozy indoor crate
