Is she a rhode island red or something else?

We just got two hens this weekend with a tractor coop we bought. I posted pictures in the coop design section of the coop and someone commented that they thought our red hen, who we were told was a rhode island red, does not look like one. These are our first chickens, so I really don't know. I think they are just starting, or finishing, a molt.

Any thoughts? What is our red girl?

This is the white hen, who we were told was a white rock, I'm going to call her a white rock unless someone suggests something different...

No hun. That pattern is called partridge

My only guess is Partridge rock... however, they have yellow legs. I can't tell if hers are pale, pale yellow or pink. Check the soles of her feet/etc.

Yes, the second is a white rock.

The "red" one has pale, almost gray legs, I haven't gotten a close look at the bottom of her feet, but I'll try. We are new to each other, so I've been respecting their space and haven't had many hands on interactions yet!

It's hard to tell since I didn't get them both in a pic together, but the white one is just as big, is not a bit bigger, than the other hen.

There is no such thing as a rhode island white anymore, they are extremely rare and aren't in ANY poultry standards book, the white one looks like a white leghorn, and in anyway rhode island whites have red earlobes, this one has white ones.

ETA: number one looks like a barnevelder cross.

Yes, there are such things as RIW. Perhaps they are more common in the US than they UK, but they do exist and have an APA standard of perfection. And the second bird has red earlobes... see the red things behind the ear space? Those are her earlobes.

And I have to disagree. Her lacing is too good to be a cross, and barnevelders are MUCH darker than she is.

Wow, lots of different things to think about, thank you all!

I guess I'll look up more pictures of partridge rocks, seems they may not have known what she was at all! I was starting to have doubts when looking some RIR pictures, but I thought maybe she was a cross of some sort.

I ordered some RIW's to come with some other chicks in a few weeks. I've since read that they might be crosses, at best, since most hatcheries won't have pure stock, so I'm not sure what they will look like.
