I Have 2 pekin ducks. I know they are not known for going broody. Although the last 4 days she has been sitting on a nest of 6 eggs she did have 10 but I took a few for the incubator. Now when you walk up to her she swells up and starts hissing at me. She's never done this before. I have a video of her so any info would help thanks.

go-to signs of a broody:
Is she on nest most the day and all night?
When you pull her out of nest and put her on the ground, does she flatten right back out into a fluffy screeching pancake?
Does she walk around making a low cluckcluckcluckcluckcluck(ticking bomb) sound on her way back to the nest?

If so, then she is probably broody and you'll have to decide how to manage it.

she don't hardly come off the nest at all. And I haven't taken her off cause Ive heard that pekin don't go broody very often and if they do you should leave them. She made her nest in a weird place. An old water tank. Soon as you start to walk up to her she swells up and hisses and she has feathers all over her nest.

She seems broody to me! 😄 Btw what a beautiful bird!
Thanks they are my babies. I try to take the best care of all my animals. She just made her nest in a weird place. In an old water tank below the back porch. But whatever makes her happy.
