My little baby is only 9 months old. She is a chochin banty. For the past few days she stays on her nest and when we take her out to get eggs she just sits where we set her and after we leave she goes back to the nest. She is like a big puff ball. We left her with 2 eggs under her tonight. And the other hens have been laying next to the bucket on the floor as you can see in the pic. They all shared the nest before this came about. I have 2 heat lamps in there for them to keep warm but it is going to get cold in the next few nights sunday nite they are saying -25 below. If she is broody do i move her to where it is warm or leave her and see what she does. I just checked and it is 34 degress in the coop. She is in the bucket.

No not really. She is so sweet and quiet and has never causes any trouble. She just does her own thing. I think she is shy.

It sure sounds like my broodies. I only have a couple that growl at me. The others just seem to be in a trance. You may be ok with just a light for extra warmth but if you have a warmer place it would definately be better for her and the eggs. It will also keep the others from trying to lay in her box again. Good Luck and keep us posted.
