Is she broody?

I have a LF splash cochin from a hatchery that when i went into the coop today she was making noise when i touched her and she got really upset and poofed up when i touched her and when the other hens came neear. Is she broody? She will be a year in may. I am asking cuz i dont think the eggs are fertile and i might want to get some for her.

I think she probably is! get some eggs and see what happens.

Sometimes, they make the same noises when they are laying. (I have been confused more than once). Take a look at the nestbox late in the afternoon or at nigth. If she's there, yes she is.
