Is she dumb, lazy, or does she just love us?

My 6 mo. old barred Rock, Mabel, does not go into the coop at night with the other chickens. For about the last 10 days, while the other ladies make their way dutifully to the coop, she hangs out by our slding glass door, stares lovingly (or is it vacantly?) in at us, then hops up onto a shelf right outside the door and waits for us to come carry her to bed. She's with the other hens all the way up until bedtime, then they part ways. What's up with this?

Thanks,

Leah

I believe Mabel has you trained! Beyond that -I guess I'm not sure how to solve your problem as you want them in the coop at night. Maybe try treats in the run just before bedtime? Someone will chime in with a good idea. Maybe you could just enjoy the adoration

Piece of cake. Mabel wants to be with you. Get yourself a large cage. When the other girls go to bed and Mabel is at the door bring her in and put her to bed in the house. In the morning take her out w/ you when you open up and put her down for the day.
