Well, some of my 7 m/o hens are going through a mini molt right now. I thought this was the case of one of white cochins, until I found her in the nest box picking her own neck feathers out

. She does this everytime she gets into a nest box, but she doesn't seem to stay on the nest box. She does spend more time in there than my other girls, but not to the point where she won't eat or drink. Is she bound to go broody on me soon or is she just nuts? If she is on the verge of going broody, should I try to set her up in her own little home to try and set a few eggs?

Thanks,
Sonja

Perfectly healthy! She's a good eater. I give her scratch, BOS, oyster shell on demand, and her layer crumbles plus plenty of treats. She's always been the mothering type though. Is she trying to fill her nest with fluff?
